The opening date for submissions is February 4, 2019, and the deadline is March 15, 2019. We continue to use the X-CD (pronounced exceed) conference submission system this year. The submission procedure is straightforward. There are three steps:

  • 1. Log in:
A. Are you a Returning user? Returning users are current and past members, past reviewers, past conference or summer school registrants, past conference authors and workshop facilitators. If you are a returning user, use your credentials to sign in to our submission system.
B. Are you a new user? If you are a new user, please click here to register for free. Then, you can use your credentials to log in to the submission system.
  • 2. Submission Information: There are a number of choices on the Submission Home page; please find the appropriate submission type by visiting the Contribution Requirements page. Fill in all required fields, including title, abstract, threads; as well as specific fields such as submission type, type of contribution, and optional notes for the Program Committee. Select up to two threads, to which your submission most closely belongs. Before uploading your files, please read how to prepare your files for submission. Use the “Submit” button; a “Saved” message will pop up and asks you to add author, followed by a confirmation email. The Program Chairs will NOT accept papers with titles such as “Your Title: A System Dynamics Approach” (or similar). Of course you are using System Dynamics - you are submitting your paper to be considered for presentation at the System Dynamics conference. You will not find articles titled “Your title: an economics approach” in the American Economic Review or “Your title: a physics approach” in Physical Review. Focus your title on the substance of your study, not the method you are using.
  • 3. Add Co-Authors: On the “Saved” pop up, click the “Add Authors” button or “Skip.” Scroll to see the section “Add New Author.” Follow the instructions for adding a new author. To add an existing Contact Profile as Co-Author(s), To find an Author ID enter the last name of the author. Do not use any accented letters in the name! If you can't find an author's name, please send an email with the author's full  name, email, organization and address info and we will write back to you as soon as possible. Then you will need to return to the paper author page to add the co-author. Once you add a new co-author, a pop-up window will show up, in which you can click on "I am Done" to finalize your submission, or you can click on "Add/Edit Authors".

Editing Your Submission:  Log in to the submission system to get to the Submission Home. Select the Submission Type that your paper was submitted in. Use the “Edit Paper” button for the correct ID. The submission for review may be updated until the submission deadline, but there is no guarantee that the latest version of your paper will be reviewed.  Uploading a revised version overwrites and replaces the existing file.

Notification of acceptance will be sent on May 13. A draft program overview by thread will be published on the web soon after notification is sent. The tentative program with presentation times will be posted on the web on June 7. The submission for the Conference Record will be updateable until September 27. Although the deadline for the Web Proceedings paper to be included on the web is September 27, 2019, we request an early draft be supplied by May 21, 2019 to be posted on the website for review in advance of the conference by participants and other interested parties.

After acceptance, by June 7, 2019, please provide a paper or link to the most up-to-date version of your work (containing author information) to be posted on the web in advance of the conference. By September 27, 2019, the materials with author information for the Conference Record will be required. The file for review will not be included in the Conference Record. The paper, link, or extended abstract, to be included in the Conference Record, can only be uploaded after acceptance.

Authors retain the copyright to all submitted work and, by submitting, grant permission for inclusion of their title, abstract, and author names in the conference record. Each submission must have a designated presenter and normally one individual can be a designated presenter for at most two works. Presenters not registered by May 31, 2019, will have their work automatically removed from the schedule. All attendees, whether presenting or not, must register for the conference.

Good work in System Dynamics is often relevant to multiple communities. The conference promotes the diffusion of knowledge generally and System Dynamics particularly. Work that has been submitted to, accepted for, or already presented at another conference, or accepted but not yet published in a journal, will be considered. An article already published in a journal in English should not be submitted.

Additionally, please send convened and other special session proposal submissions directly to the Program Chairs. To report submission problems, please send an email to [email protected].

Thank you for your submission to ISDC 2019. See you in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA!
